WhatsApp is testing messages that self-destruct after you read them

WhatsApp is testing a new disappearing-messages timer in its iOS beta, according to WABetaInfo.

Read messages can be set to vanish after 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 12 hours.

If a message is never opened, it will still expire after 24 hours.

The feature aims to give users finer control over message retention and privacy, though screenshots and saves are still possible.
