Your Blood Test Might Already Show Alzheimer’s Risk

A large study linked a routine blood marker, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, to a higher future risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Researchers analyzed nearly 400,000 patients and found higher NLR levels were associated with greater odds of later dementia before cognitive decline was diagnosed.

If confirmed, this standard blood test could help identify higher-risk people years earlier for closer monitoring and earlier intervention.

The findings may also shed light on immune system processes involved in Alzheimer’s disease.
