Google Home app modernizes camera and media controls, Gemini voice assistant gets speed upgrades

Google is rolling out a redesigned Home app with a new camera experience, dynamic theming, clearer AI event descriptions, faster search, simplified settings, and combined event pages.

The update also expands media controls and adds better account-relinking and diagnostic tools for Google Home, Cast devices, Google TV Streamer, smart speakers, and smart displays.

Gemini for Home is getting faster light and plug controls, quicker timer and reminder handling, and better recognition of command context.

Google also added account-hold protections for Google Home Premium subscribers, helping reduce service interruptions.
