Gemini 3.5 Flash is Google’s new default AI model, and it’s built to act, not just answer

Google launched Gemini 3.5 Flash at I/O 2026, calling it its strongest agentic and coding model yet.

The model is faster and cheaper than comparable frontier models, and beats Gemini 3.1 Pro on several benchmarks.

Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search.

It is also available across Google’s consumer, developer, and enterprise products, including AI Studio, the Gemini API, Android Studio, and Gemini Enterprise.
