Trump proposes steep cut to NASA budget as astronauts head for the Moon

The White House budget proposal would cut NASA's space technology directorate by $297 million versus this year and $476 million versus 2025.

It would cut $1.1 billion from ISS funding and keep the station's retirement and de-orbit scheduled for 2030.

The proposal supports continued SLS launches through at least Artemis V and plans a 2027 procurement for commercial crew transport beyond Artemis V.

The budget includes funding for a commercial lunar propellant production and testing effort and would continue efforts to zero out NASA education funding.
