Microsoft’s Fairwater AI Datacenter Goes Live Early, Unleashing Hundreds of Thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs On The World

Microsoft said its Fairwater AI datacenter in Wisconsin is going live ahead of schedule.

The site is built to run hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell-based GB200 GPUs in a single large cluster for AI training and other heavy workloads.

The move underscores Microsoft’s massive AI infrastructure expansion and the rising demand for compute, power, and data center capacity for frontier models.

Satya Nadella has framed the project as core infrastructure for the next wave of agentic AI.
