Making AI search smarter

Cloudflare announced new bot controls and a research program to make AI search use fresher, higher-quality content more efficiently.

The effort uses freshness, quality, change, and traffic signals to reduce wasted crawling and rethink the web’s search economics.

Cloudflare also signaled a longer-term model in which creators could be paid when their content is used in AI answers.

The move responds to AI summaries cutting traffic to original sites, and aims to give publishers more control and a stronger revenue path.
