Huge Group of Experts Warns Meta That Its Pervert Glasses Will Enable Terrible Crimes

More than 70 advocacy groups are urging Meta to cancel a planned facial recognition feature for Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses.

The feature, reportedly called Name Tag, would let wearers identify nearby people through an AI assistant without their consent.

Critics, including the ACLU and EFF, warn it could enable stalking, abuse, and covert surveillance in public spaces.

The backlash follows earlier criticism of Meta’s smart glasses over hidden recording and a previously dropped photo-tagging tool.
