Samsung avoids worst-case strike scenario as court restricts union action

A South Korean court partly granted Samsung Electronics an injunction limiting union strike tactics, while still allowing a planned walkout to go ahead under strict conditions.

The strike cannot block access, occupy facilities, or interfere with production and safety work, reducing the risk of an immediate shutdown at Samsung’s chip operations.

The ruling comes as bonus negotiations remain stalled and government officials warn that a chip disruption could cause major economic losses.

The decision eases near-term fears of deeper memory-chip supply pressure and disruption for AI hardware makers such as Nvidia.
