China makes major nuclear expansion move, adds four new projects in $25 billion energy investment

China approved four nuclear power projects in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Liaoning, and Shandong.

The projects will add eight generating units and attract more than $25 billion in investment.

They include expansion phases at Jinqimen and Taipingling, plus new sites at Zhuanghe and Laiyang, using Hualong One and Guohe One reactors.

The approvals reinforce China’s global lead in nuclear buildout and expand its low-carbon power supply.
