AI becomes an attacker's "assistive tool" as Google reports countermeasures and the latest threats

Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) says attackers are increasingly abusing AI to speed up vulnerability research and attack preparation.

GTIG also observed AI-integrated malware and information operations using voice cloning to manipulate targets.

Threats are expanding beyond AI models to surrounding tools, plugins, APIs, and credentials, including Gemini API.

The report links activity to Chinese- and North Korea-aligned actors, underscoring a broader and more automated threat landscape.
