NASA's Artemis laser system will send 4K video from the Moon at 260 Mbps

Artemis II is NASA's crewed lunar mission currently underway.

The communication system is named the Orion Artemis II Optical Communications system (O2O).

O2O lets astronauts aboard Orion send 4K video from the Moon to Earth and can transmit at up to 260 megabits per second.

Laser ground stations are located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Table Mountain, California; they were chosen for their reliably clear skies.

The Deep Space Network will handle radio contact with the spacecraft, and Nikon digital cameras will capture portions of the lunar landscape.
