Googlebooks will feature Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek chips and follow Google's strict hardware guidelines

Google unveiled Googlebook, a premium laptop platform made by third-party OEMs but tightly governed by Google hardware rules.

The first Googlebook models will use chips from Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, while AMD is not part of the initial lineup.

Google says the new platform aims to bring more consistency and less fragmentation than Chromebooks.

The move positions Google to build a more controlled, premium PC ecosystem that could challenge Apple-like laptops.
