Nintendo's Character-Summoning Patent Has Been Rejected

The USPTO issued a non-final rejection of Nintendo's character-summoning patent, rejecting all 26 claims.

Nintendo had secured the patent in September 2025, and the USPTO Director ordered re-examination in November 2025.

Nintendo has two months to appeal the non-final ruling or the patent will be revoked.

The USPTO cited four prior-art references showing summon-to-battle mechanics as evidence for the rejection.
