Huawei says it has connected 170 million people in remote areas, surpassing its ITU P2C pledge

Huawei announced at its TECH Cares Forum in Barcelona that it has connected 170 million people in remote areas, exceeding its ITU P2C pledge.

The company said it had pledged in 2022 to connect 120 million people by 2025 and has surpassed that target.

Huawei highlighted programs such as Skills on Wheels and RuralCow and named partnerships with MTN Nigeria and others as contributors to the result.

Speakers at the forum emphasized digital connectivity and skills as foundations for inclusive AI-era services.

Huawei said it will continue to develop rural network technologies and expand digital skills initiatives.
