AMD MI430X Is the “Highest Performance” FP64 GPU Ever Built, Surpassing NVIDIA’s Rubin by 6x in Classic HPC Workloads

AMD previewed the Instinct MI430X as its top FP64 GPU, targeting up to 200 TFLOPs of native double-precision performance.

The company says that gives it up to 6x the FP64 compute of NVIDIA’s upcoming Rubin for traditional HPC workloads.

MI430X is part of AMD’s MI400 family and is designed to serve both scientific computing and AI use cases.

AMD says the chip is slated for major deployments, including ORNL’s Discovery system and Europe’s Alice Recoque supercomputer by 2028.
