Gemini wants to read your emails, calendar, and notifications to help you before you even ask

A teardown of the Google app beta found code for a Gemini feature called “Proactive Assistance.”

It would let Gemini use opted-in apps like Gmail and Google Calendar, plus notifications and screen content, to generate personalized suggestions.

The feature appears designed to run on-device, which could improve privacy while making Gemini a more hands-free assistant.

Google’s existing “Your Day” feed was also renamed “Daily Brief” in the beta code.

The feature is still unconfirmed and has only been spotted in beta code, with more details possibly coming around I/O 2025.
