Malta government to offer ChatGPT Plus free to all citizens; AI course graduates can use it for one year

Malta and OpenAI announced a new partnership to give eligible citizens one year of free ChatGPT Plus.

The offer is tied to completing the government-run AI literacy course, “AI for All,” and holding a valid eID.

The initiative aims to expand AI access nationwide and link public AI education with real-world tool use.

Officials say the program could serve as a model for government-led AI adoption and inclusion.
