Harvard researchers unveiled Keyring, an open-source identity wallet that keeps biometric data and credentials on a user’s phone.

The app verifies attributes like age or employment locally, sharing only minimal proof instead of full personal details.

Built with the Linux Foundation’s Decentralized Trust Graph Working Group, Keyring is being shown on Bluesky.

Its wider adoption depends on outside organizations issuing and recognizing credentials, which would be needed for real-world use.
