HP’s HyperX Omen 15 isn’t quite the budget-friendly gaming laptop its predecessor was

HP’s new HyperX Omen 15 replaces the Victus 15 with an RTX 5050, a brighter 16:10 165Hz display, and a 1080p webcam.

In testing, it handled 1080p and 1200p gaming reasonably well, including titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Control, Helldivers 2, and Battlefield 6.

The big downside is price: the HyperX Omen 15 starts at $1,200, far above the Victus 15’s roughly $800 entry point.

The review highlights how current-gen parts are pushing so-called budget gaming laptops out of true budget territory.
