Northern Lights Forecast: 20 States May See Aurora Saturday Night

NOAA forecasts a G1 to G2 geomagnetic storm for April 18–19 that could trigger northern lights across parts of the northern U.S.

Alaska has the best viewing odds, with northern states like Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Maine also in the possible viewing zone.

If the solar storm strengthens, aurora could appear farther south than usual.

The new moon should make dark skies and improve the chance of seeing the display.
