The FCC Just Banned Most Robot Vacuums. Here’s What That Means

The FCC clarified that its national-security import rules can now cover new foreign-made robot vacuums and similar mobile robots.

That scope can also include robot lawn mowers, pool-cleaning robots, and delivery robots that move autonomously and avoid obstacles.

Existing products already sold in the US, as well as federal-government use, are exempt.

The move could limit future US sales of popular consumer robots unless companies win exemptions.
