US Marines test low-cost FPV drone attacks coordinated from Venom helicopters

The U.S. Marine Corps tested launching a low-cost FPV drone from the ground and handing control to a helicopter crew in flight.

In a Southern California exercise, Marines used a Neros Archer drone and a UH-1Y Venom to assess helicopter-based drone deployment and targeting.

The experiment is part of a broader push to adapt to cheap, hard-to-detect drones and new battlefield tactics.

If successful, the approach could give crewed aircraft a new role in directing unmanned attacks and extending their reach.
