Forced Windows updates can now be paused forever

Microsoft is rolling out new Windows 11 update controls that let users keep pausing updates in 35-day increments.

Users will also be able to restart or shut down without being forced to install updates first.

The changes are first arriving to Windows Insider testers in the Dev and Experimental channels.

The update gives people more flexibility over disruptive installs while still leaving security updates available later.
