Korean government to respond to soaring DRAM prices with market and price monitoring, internet plan restructuring, and recycled PC distribution to vulnerable groups

South Korea is preparing measures to ease rising PC, RAM, and internet costs by recycling government computers, supporting vulnerable households, and monitoring hardware markets.

Authorities plan to expand reuse of public-sector PCs, increase computer support for vulnerable groups, and provide subsidies for low-income students buying PCs.

The government will also review telecom data plans to keep basic internet access available after data caps and reduce pressure from rising bills.

Officials are set to inspect DRAM, PC, and laptop markets for unfair pricing or supply problems amid global shortages and AI-driven demand.
