Veeam launches Vault Archive as a cloud alternative to tape

Veeam has launched Data Cloud Vault Archive, a cloud archive tier for long-term backup retention.

It automatically moves old, infrequently used backups to lower-cost cloud storage while keeping them immutable, encrypted, and air-gapped.

The service is positioned as a tape alternative to reduce storage waste, support compliance, and improve cyber resilience for cold data.

It also supports NAS Direct to Archive for direct NAS archiving.

Veeam Data Platform v13.1 arrives alongside it with NAS malware scanning and support for more hypervisors.
