Norway Approves Autonomous Buses for Public Roads

Norway has approved level 4 autonomous buses for public-road use, allowing operation without a human driver.

Vy and Kolumbus will begin a conditional pilot in Rogaland on a limited route near a hospital and university.

The electric Karsan e-ATAK buses use Adastec technology and have undergone years of testing.

The move is a major regulatory milestone for autonomous transit in Europe and could make Norway the first European country to run fully driverless buses in normal traffic.
