Artemis II: Everything We Know as Its Crew Approaches the Far Side of the Moon

Artemis II’s Orion spacecraft is preparing for a crewed lunar flyby and a pass behind the Moon’s far side.

It will lose contact with Earth for about six hours before using lunar gravity to head back home.

The mission is a key rehearsal for NASA’s future Moon landings, testing life support, navigation, communications, and crew operations.

It has also shared widely circulated Earth images and set a new human distance milestone in deep space.
