A Basque wind farm project in Labraza opened citizen pre-booking for crowdlending with a guaranteed 7% annual return.

Within 24 hours, 51 residents had already covered most of the €3 million target.

The scheme is meant to align local incentives with renewable development in a region where wind projects have faced years of resistance.

Backers say the model could help speed up contested energy projects by giving communities a direct financial stake.
