OpenAI is giving Japanese financial institutions access to GPT-5.5 to help strengthen cyber defenses.

Japan’s finance minister called the move a major step for bank cybersecurity.

Access to Claude Mythos will also be arranged for government and financial institutions.

Japan’s three megabanks are expected to get access to OpenAI’s latest models, following similar access in Europe.
