Government to Create 20 Trillion Won Korean-Style Strategic Sovereign Wealth Fund, Launching Next Year

The government plans to launch a Korean-style strategic sovereign wealth fund in 2027, after setting up a new strategic investment account inside KIC.

The fund will start with more than 20 trillion won and directly invest in domestic strategic industries such as AI, semiconductors, robotics, and defense.

It is designed to provide long-term capital for key sectors, strengthening industrial competitiveness and economic security.

The policy will be finalized next year as the government works out the legal and institutional framework.
