GitHub removes leaked 'Claude Code' after Anthropic DMCA takedown

Anthropic filed a DMCA takedown with GitHub on March 31 over leaked Claude Code.

GitHub removed about 8,100 repositories across a related network, including the parent repo.

Some developers deleted local snapshots and shifted to clean-room reimplementations to avoid copyright risk.

Removing GitHub copies cannot fully stop diffusion because the code had already been widely forked.

Anthropic said the leak resulted from human error, and future process controls will be questioned.
