Linux distributions worldwide targeted by the Copy Fail exploit

Researchers disclosed a public exploit for the Linux kernel “Copy Fail” flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-31431.

The bug has reportedly existed since 2017 and can let unprivileged attackers gain full root access.

The issue affects major Linux distributions and kernel components including AF_ALG and algif_aead.

Theori, Xint Code, and others published a PoC plus patches and mitigations, urging rapid updates.
