Satellite-based internet will power inflight Wi-Fi on a lot more planes in 2027

American Airlines will add Starlink satellite internet to more than 500 narrowbody aircraft, starting in Q1 2027.

The rollout includes Airbus A321XLR and A321neo jets, aiming to deliver faster inflight Wi‑Fi.

The move follows similar satellite connectivity efforts by United, Southwest, Delta, and JetBlue.

It underscores growing competition in airline internet, with Starlink and Amazon’s aviation network vying for contracts.
