Apple shuts down iPhone Upgrade Program, here’s what’s next

Apple has discontinued the iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments in the U.S. after launching Apple Upgrade, a new leasing program.

Apple Upgrade covers iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, shifting customers from Apple’s long-running upgrade plan to a lease-based model.

Existing iPhone Upgrade Program users can keep paying for now, then choose Apple Upgrade, Apple Card Monthly Installments, an outright purchase, or carrier financing if eligible.

The move changes ownership, payment structure, and AppleCare handling for customers who relied on Apple’s previous device upgrade program.
