Japan is building military drones out of cardboard, and they're faster and cheaper than you'd expect

Japan’s defense ministry met with startup Air Kamuy about its corrugated-cardboard AirKamuy 150 drone.

The fixed-wing drone is cheaper and faster than some U.S. and Iranian counterparts, but its range is limited.

Air Kamuy says the model has civilian uses, while government interest points to possible military adoption.

The idea highlights how low-cost, easy-to-make drones could enable mass deployment and swarm tactics.
