ChatGPT, Codex, and Browsing Together…OpenAI Reveals 'Super App' Roadmap

OpenAI set out a roadmap to expand ChatGPT into a hub for digital tasks such as shopping, coding and web browsing.

It will combine Codex, web browsing and agent-style functions into a single 'agent-first' experience.

The company plans to build an infrastructure layer 'for intelligence itself' and says that as AI capability rises, competition shifts from intelligence to usability.

OpenAI frames the move as a distribution and deployment strategy rather than product simplification, and views personal (travel planning, editing) and work (summaries, coding) uses as entry points into one ecosystem.

ChatGPT already reports over 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million subscribers; search use has nearly tripled in a year, and the service could become the default starting point for digital work.
