Humanoid Robot Patents: China Most, U.S. Best?

A LexisNexis review of more than 26,000 humanoid robot patent families shows China leads overwhelmingly by filing volume.

China dominates core areas including interaction systems, morphology, and control and planning, with filings surging in recent years.

The U.S. lags in raw patent counts, but ranks much higher on quality, posting the top average patent quality and second-strongest portfolio strength.

The results suggest China has the broader industrial lead, while the U.S. may hold fewer but more influential patents for future commercialization and licensing.
