The move follows earlier instrument reductions after a recent power drop signaled the probe’s shrinking energy budget.

By trimming usage, NASA aims to keep Voyager 1 operating longer in interstellar space.

The aging spacecraft remains the only probe sampling the interstellar environment beyond the heliosphere.
