MTG’s Hobbit set size draws comparisons to the Spider-Man crossover

New card-number leaks suggest Magic: The Gathering’s The Hobbit crossover will have 193 main-set cards.

That makes it only a bit bigger than the Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossovers, and far smaller than a typical Magic expansion.

The small size has sparked concerns about limited variety, weaker draft replayability, and lower pack-opening value.

Wizards of the Coast says The Hobbit is intentionally designed around the book’s narrative rather than individual character spotlights.
