LIGO May Have Detected the First Primordial Black Hole, Scientists Say

Researchers from the University of Miami report a LIGO signal that may be a primordial black hole.

The detected signal S251112cm indicates a merger with one object below one solar mass.

The team’s PBH occurrence estimates align with LIGO detections since 2015.
