Google DeepMind has set up a dedicated team to improve its coding AI models.

The effort is reportedly led by Sebastian Borgeaud, with Sergey Brin and CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu involved.

The goal is to strengthen complex coding and agentic software-writing capabilities.

The move reflects Google’s push to catch up with Anthropic’s stronger coding tools and expand internal use of its own coding agents.
