Intel teases a wider range of overclockable CPUs for future platforms — VP Robert Hallock says budget builders 'deserve the same level of features' as more well-heeled enthusiasts

Intel says it plans to bring overclocking support to more lower-priced desktop CPUs in future product roadmaps.

The move would expand beyond premium K-series chips, but it will not happen immediately.

It is still unclear whether cheaper chipsets and motherboards, not just expensive Z-series boards, will also support overclocking.

If Intel broadens unlocked CPUs and platform support, it could improve competitiveness with AMD and lower DIY entry costs.
