XREAL’s $299 glasses just gave casual AR buyers a much easier way in

XREAL launched X By XREAL, a lower-cost sub-brand aimed at making AR glasses more accessible.

Its first model, the xbx a01, weighs 62 grams, uses dual-layer MicroOLED displays, and starts at $299.

The glasses are already available in China, with a U.S. launch planned for July.

Instead of camera-based 3DoF tracking, XREAL uses software stabilization to keep the device simpler and cheaper.

The move could help bring casual big-screen AR to more users on phones, laptops, handheld consoles, and while traveling.
