7-Eleven data breach affects over 185,000 people’s personal data

7-Eleven said an April hack-and-extortion incident exposed data on more than 185,000 people.

The stolen information included names, birth dates, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses; some filings also mention Social Security numbers and driver’s license data.

Attackers accessed an internal server and threatened to leak the records, raising risks of identity theft and fraud.

The breach has drawn attention from tracking and regulatory sources, including Have I Been Pwned and state attorneys general.
