We Now Know How Many People the CDC Is Monitoring for Hantavirus

The CDC is monitoring 41 people in the U.S. after an Andes hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship.

Those under watch include 18 passengers in quarantine and others who traveled after exposure; the monitoring period is 42 days.

WHO has confirmed 11 cases and three deaths linked to the outbreak.

Officials say the public risk remains low, but contact tracing is critical because Andes hantavirus can spread person to person.
