You can finally change your Gmail address without losing everything

Google has enabled Gmail username changes for US accounts so users can change the portion before @gmail.com without losing data.

The updated system preserves old emails, photos, contacts, subscriptions, and Drive files when a username is changed.

Users can change usernames once per year and up to three times overall, and old usernames remain linked for login and reversion.

Google first rolled out the feature in India late last year and expanded it to the US this week.
