Passengers from hantavirus ship arrive in US; 3 people in biocontainment

Eighteen passengers from a hantavirus-linked ship were brought back to the U.S. for monitoring.

Among them, 17 are U.S. citizens and one holds dual U.K.-U.S. citizenship.

Two were transported in special biocontainment units, including one with a weak positive hantavirus test and another with symptoms.

Fifteen others were quarantined, and two passengers who are a couple were sent together to Emory University to preserve Nebraska’s biocontainment capacity.
