US Army fields 25% lighter Javelin missile launcher with doubled target detection

The U.S. Army has begun receiving the first Lightweight Command Launch Units for the Javelin anti-armor system.

The new launcher is 25% lighter and 30% smaller than the older model, improving infantry mobility and survivability.

It also doubles detection and recognition range while remaining compatible with current Javelin missile variants.

The upgrade is being produced by the Javelin Joint Venture as Raytheon expands manufacturing capacity, helping meet higher battlefield demand after heavy use in Ukraine.
