Microsoft is ending reservations for older instance types

Microsoft will stop new long-term reservations for several older Azure VM instance types starting July 1.

The initial change covers 13 one-year reservation types, with limits also expanding to additional one- and three-year reservations for four more.

Some affected VM variants are scheduled for full decommissioning in May and November 2028.

Customers relying on legacy Azure hardware will need to plan migrations, while Microsoft pushes newer infrastructure for better efficiency and cost.
